  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, April 2026, Score: 94-96

Langoa 2025 is less Cabernet dominant than its bigger brother Léoville, with 45% Merlot in the finished blend. Striking fruits of the forest aromas, this is a composed and harmonious wine, with a gentle nature. Free flowing in the mouth, with mouthwatering freshness, calm, relaxed and so very rewarding. Lovely.

  • Neal Martin, May 2026, Score: 92-94

The 2025 Langoa-Barton was picked between September 4 and 18 and matured in 60% new oak barrels. It has a lively bouquet with the Merlot in full effect, blueberry and cassis scents, and just a background touch of peppermint. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a lovely caressing texture, very well balanced with a touch of pepperiness towards the persistent finish. What a gorgeous Langoa! Drink 2030-2055

  • Wine Advocate, April 2026, Score: 92-94

Cropped at a mere 20 hectoliters per hectare, one of the lowest yields ever recorded at this address, the 2025 Langoa Barton offers up aromas of dark berries, pencil shavings, spices and new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, with bright acids and chalky tannins, it's a blend of 45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc.

  • Antonio Galloni, April 2026, Score: 91-93

The 2025 Langoa-Barton is a very racy wine. Plush contours and vibrant dark red/purplish fruit are the signatures. Crushed flowers, cinnamon, red plum, blood orange and dried herbs open nicely in the glass. Floral overtones brighten the finish. This mid-weight, fruity, Merlot-driven Saint-Julien is all charm. It should drink well with minimal cellaring. Tasted two times. Drink 2033-2050.

  • Jancis Robinson, May 2026, Score: 16.5/20

45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Bright and fragrant on the nose. Lovely fruit on the palate. Tannins ripe and fine, just the oak that needs to integrate. Hence a slightly chewy finish but all the components are there. Drink 2030-2045

  • Jane Anson, April 2026, Score: 93

Langoa is very much a wine of the moment, with a sense of energy and punch, and you get that here, juicy and characterful, raspberry and cherry pit, hard to beat in terms of pleasure delivery. Great stuff. Very drinkable wine. Tasted twice, love the energy here.

Producer

Château Langoa Barton

This château is owned by the Barton family (with Léoville Barton). Serving as a home and a winecellar, Langoa took its name from "gué" an old French word for the small stream that flows at thesouthern end of the property. Unlike the classical style of its stable mate, Langoa tends to be more approachable and flattering at a young age with fleshy fruit and textured tannins.

Region

St Julien

St Julien is like the middle child of the Médoc - not as assertive as Pauillac or as coquettish as Margaux. It lies firmly between the two more outspoken communes and as a result produces a blend of them both. St Julien's wines have often been sought out by aficionados for their balance and consistency, particularly in the UK. Yet due to its middle child nature, it can occasionally be overlooked globally and as a result underrated by those markets outside the UK. Despite the fact that it has no first growths, it has several second growths including Léoville Las Cases, Léoville Barton, Léoville Poyferré and Ducru Beaucaillou as well as the celebrated châteaux such as Talbot and Beychevelle.
