It is quite rare for a wine to get a second moment in the spotlight on our blog quite so quickly. However the first note on Dom Pérignon 2006 from one of the most highly regarded critics, Champagne expert Richard Juhlin, merits the coverage.
Richard Juhlin is one of the most authoritative tasters of Champagne: it is all he spends his life tasting! Having written numerous books, tasted over 3000 champagnes, he is illustrious in this arena. However, he is a tough marker; the equivalent to Robert Parker in the Champagne world and was been awarded the Chevalier del Arc by the French government in 1997 for is efforts. He and Antonio Galloni are the men to follow in the Champagne arena.
Juhlin wrote this glowing note below on his blog yesterday. Awarding Dom Perignon 2006 94 points, with the potential to increase 97, which would be a higher score than both the 2002 and the 1996 which are the benchmark vintages of the past two decades.
