We love the Reverdys. They have to be one of the most unassuming and utterly charming families in the wine making world. Romain Reverdy came across for our Summer Rosé Tasting in aid of Starlight and was, in spite of being a little overwhelmed, one of the stars of the show.
Their delicate, delicious Sancerre Rosé 2008 sold out the following day.
The good news is that we immediately shipped their 2009 which is just as good. It has just been awarded a “coup de coeur” in the 2011 Guide Hachette, one of France’s leading wine guides.
For the French speakers here is the full text:
« Maintes fois coup de coeur pour son Sancerre rosé (six fois pour être exact), le domaine récidive dans le millésime 2009. Le pressurage direct du pinot noir n’a en effet plus de secret pour cette branche de la famille Reverdy. On peut apprécier ici une robe saumon pâle aux reflets étincelants,et une farandole de senteurs plus gourmandes les unes que les autres, dominées par les fruits mûrs tels que la framboise, la fraise ou la pêche. La bouche est en parfaite harmonie, à la fois par ses arômes, mais aussi par sa richesse, son ampleur et sa complexité. Ce rosé de repas, chaleureux et racé, sera servi sur un jambon de Sancerre pour un accord régional. »
For the non-French speakers “avoir un coup de coeur” means quite simply “to fall in love with“.
