We have always been enormous fans of wine from the Rhone Valley. And our buying policy always reflected this. However, there was a time when, apart from a few savvy buyers, we struggled to impart our enthusiasm to the majority of our clients.
So a couple of years ago we decided that the only solution was to hold a tasting, persuade all the winemakers we work with to come to London and persuade our clients that Rhone wines are not only delicious, but also fantastic value. It worked – and our En Primeur Rhone Tasting is now a firm fixture in the Goedhuis calendar.
An added bonus this year is that the tasting (Tuesday 18th November 2008, 18:00-20:30) is to be held at the Saatchi Gallery at the Duke of York Headquarters just off the Kings Road which opens to the public today. So in addition to tasting a whole host of excellent wines (see Robin Kick’s preview of the 2007 vintage for more details) you will also have the opportunity to visit this spectacular new gallery and the inaugural exhibition, “The Revolution Continues: New Chinese Art”.
All the usual suspects are joining us – Bonnefond, Gaillard, Rostaing, Monteillet, Barret, Colombier, Voge, Clos des Cazaux, Cros de la Mure, Cayron, Versino, Chateau de Beaucastel, Font de Michelle, Clos des Papes, Mas de Daumas Gassac and Domaine de Trevallon. And the few who can’t make it over will be sending samples. We are also working on two vertical flights – Pierre Gaillard’s Cote Rotie Rose Pourpre and the legendary Domaine de Trevallon.
Tickets are £25 and one ticket per person is refundable against purchases of Rhone 2007 En Primeur or other Rhone wines.
