In last week’s Moneyweek Matthew Jukes highlighted a few different French domaines that he feels make “great inexpensive wine year in, year out” – no easy feat given the unpredictability of European weather. We were delighted to find our best-selling Ch St Baillon Réserve du Château Côtes de Provence Rosé included in his recommendations.
A few practicalities:
• We are currently selling the 2016 vintage
• We have bottles (£131.38 per 12) and double magnums (£65.00 per 1) in stock for immediate delivery
• There has been a run on magnums (£73.19 per 6) so more will be arriving at our warehouse in the next few weeks
However, I have nothing to add to Matthew’s eloquence as to the quality and superb value of this quintessential Provencal rosé:
“But the summer is upon us, so is there a fail-safe rosé out there? The answer is yes, one. For as long as I can remember, Saint Baillon has nailed it – every single vintage. The price is still tiddly, the larger formats hilarious and the flavour has never been better than in 2016. I was afforded a pre-release screening by the great Johnny Goedhuis and this wine took my breath away with its haunting, cherrystone-scented nose and silky-smooth, sea-spray-kissed palate. This is a very rare beast – a truly delicious, unbelievably reliable and yet eminently affordable French classic.”
