We are big fans of Amelia Pinsent’s wine writing in Country Life and were delighted to find three of our rosés in her recent summer drinking recommendations. Our perennial favourites Ch St Baillon Cotes de Provence Rosé and Ch de Sours Rosé and a new addition to our rosé range, Domaine Begude’s Pinot Rosé from Limoux.
Here are Amelia’s notes:
BEST WINES FOR GARDEN PARTIES
2009 Château St Baillon Réserve du Château, Côtes de Provence Rosé, France (£9.01 per bottle, magums £19.98 or double magnums £52.88)
This is a rosé that melts your heart with its petal-pink hue. The fresh, thirst-quenching nectar features notes of ripe watermelons, cranberries and summer fruit.
BEST WINES FOR BARBECUES
Château de Sours Rosé, Bordeaux (£8.71)
This shade of pink is spot on with summery flavours, with its flinty minerality and dry finish. Delicious with grilled prawns or veal chops.
BEST WINES FOR PICNICS – SCREWCAP ESSENTIAL
Domain Begude Pinot Rosé, Limoux, France (£7.93)
This is a different style to the Provence rosés-with more colour and concentration, it’s the ultimate solution to the red or white wine dilemma. With fragrant Morello cherry notes and a hint of redcurrants, this dry wine is delicious with charcuterie or on its own as an aperitif.
