THE BOURGEOIS FAMILY
Henri Bourgeois cultivated two hectares on the slopes of Chavignol in the 1950's - an area that was, until then, unknown. This is where wines of high quality were born and to which he gave his name.
His sons, Jean-Marie and Rémi, joined him in the 1960’s and continued the adventure.
Today, Arnaud, Lionel, and Jean-Christophe Bourgeois are just as much the heirs of those men as the initiators of the future of the vines and wines of the domain.A family working together, expressing their vivacity and their generous personalities through its wines; “Famille Bourgeois” is now a family name synonymous with Sancerre.
THE VINEYARD
Each member of the family brings its knowledge and expertise to the wine estates and works actively within the vineyards. Rooted to their beloved village of Chavignol, on the greatest terroirs of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, they work on a mosaic of vine plots. Each plot is isolated and worked in respect of its origin to reveal, in the most precise and true way, the expression of its terroir - either Kimmeridgian marls, Flint or Limestone Clay soils.
