Goedhuis, November 2018
This enclosed monopole in the north of Pommard has produced a very bright style of wine. It has rich, full, fruit compote flavours, and its natural tannic intensity gives it punch and drive. A firmly structured wine with great ageing potential.

Burghound, April 2020, Score: 90
A complex if not especially fresh nose speaks of red cherry, plum liqueur dark currant, earth and a whisper of old leather. As one would reasonably expect given the domaine's consistently low yields there is fine volume and concentration to the strikingly rich big-bodied flavors that deliver solid length and depth on the distinctly firm and warm finish. To describe this as an atypical 2017 would be an understatement as it's ripe to the point of being particular. Drink 2029+

Burghound, April 2019, Score: 90-93
A more complex nose speaks of red cherry, plum liqueur dark currant, earth and a whisper of old leather. As one would reasonably expect there is both better volume and concentration to the strikingly rich big-bodied flavors that deliver very fine length and depth on the distinctly firm and overtly tannic finish. To describe this as an atypical 2017 would be an understatement as I can count on one hand the number of wines from this vintage where I have suggested an initial drinking window of 25 years! Decanter, November 2018, Score: 95
The best of the de Courcel reds in 2017, this comes from dense clay soils on the northern side of Pommard. Intense, scented and very rich, it has aromas of incense, white pepper and forest floor, with masses of dark, inky fruit, granular tannins and balancing freshness and acidity on the finish. Region
Pommard
A long popular appellation, Pommard is yet another exclusive red wine area which produces by far the most structured reds of the Côte de Beaune. It extracts rich body and long ageing potential from the limestone/iron-rich clay soil. Some examples can be markedly rustic, yet as time has passed and winemaking know-how has improved, Pommard's wines are becoming softer and more approachable when young. Its vines cover 317 hectares of which over a third are premier cru vineyards. Several have pronounced following and even one, Les Rugiens, is being pushed to become a grand cru.
