Region

Paso Robles

Paso Robles is one of California's oldest winegrowing regions located in San Luis Obispo County,Central Coast. Here there is no penetration by cooling coastal winds or marine fogs, as there are in other parts of California, and as a consequence the climate is hotter. This has an effect on grape ripening patterns and makes Paso Robles red-wine country, particularly for high-alcohol, tannic Zinfandels and Rhône varieties. Newcomers are even experimenting with Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
