  • Goedhuis, December 2022

This is an excellent parcel in Vosne Romanée situated in the vineyards that flow into Nuits St Georges at the southern end of the village. Mathias describes this as a serious styled wine for the appellation. 40% whole bunch vinified, but it is the bright red cherry destalked fruit that dominates the aromatics. A beautifully precise style, starting crunchy and fresh, prior to the development of the sweetness of fruit. The soft tannins are perfectly integrated within this classy cuvée.

  • Neal Martin, January 2023, Score: 90-92

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas was a touch reduced and therefore less giving than the Les Chalandins. The stems (40% here) are neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a salty entry, very marine influenced, nicely balanced with bright blueberry and strawberry fruit on the sorbet-fresh finish. Plenty of energy - this should age with style. Drink 2025-2038.

  • Jasper Morris MW, December 2022, Score: 89-91

40% whole bunch vinification. Fairly full crimson. The fruit is a little less explosive than the charming Chalandins, held back by an earlier reduction, though a sweeter fruit comes through on the palate. The style is more strawberry than raspberry, with fair length, and some minerals to finish. Drink from 2025-2029.

Region

Vosne Romanée

The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
