  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025

The family holding is a substantial 1.5 hectares in a wonderful location within the Chambolle Musigny sector of the appellation. Said to be named after a trinity of Roman goddesses of fertility, “bonnes mères”, the white marl soil here produces a generous and full style of wine. This wine is incredibly mineral and fresh, with broad brushstrokes of juicy bramble and wild fruits of the forest that develop in the mouth. A delightful herbal nature with rosemary and thyme and sweet smoke. Amazing finesse, with a long finish that is teeming with fresh red-fruit too. This is discreetly luxurious with fine-grained tannins that last. Perfectly balanced.

  • Burghound, April 2026, Score: 91-93

(from a 1.5 ha parcel that is almost entirely in the terres rouges section). Cool and very fresh aromas of forest floor, plum, dark currant and an abundance of floral elements are also trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The very rich, even velvety, medium-bodied flavors possess solid mid-palate density before culminating in a powerful, compact and serious tautly muscular finish. This too could use better depth so at least some cellaring should help. Drink 2036+.

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less
