    (Not tasted). Clos de Bèze joined the Faiveley estate in the 1930s and is considered one of the most emblematic appellations of Burgundy. Located in the heart of Gevrey’s Grands Crus (Mazis, Latricières, Charmes), Clos de Bèze epitomises excellence. The Faiveley holding includes three plots covering a total surface area of 1.29 ha: Grands Rangs, Clos de Bèze Haut and Vieilles Vignes. Always complex, with refined power and a stunningly delicate finish.

    (from a 1.29 ha parcel). Generous wood again challenges the fruit but not the spice on the nose of red currant, dark cherry and that interesting humus-tinged earth/forest floor character. There is better volume and solid power to the rich and voluminous flavors that possess a sappy mid-palate where the dry extract also serves to buffer the firm tannic spine shaping the linger, balanced and ever-so-mildly austere finale. Drink 2034+.

Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Crus than any other appellation in Burgundy. Unusually wines from Clos de Beze may simply call themselves Chambertin, which is an indicator of the quality of these vineyards. One of the most complete of all the Grand Crus, rivalling the revered Romanee-Conti, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze wines are the pinnacle of Pinot Noir - fragrant, powerfully complex and intense.
