  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025

A very old vine parcel, planted by Nicolas and Caroline’s grandfather in the 1960s. Only 4 barrels made this year, so quantities are very limited. The grapes from this site are late to ripen on the old vines which allows them to slowly develop complexity and a spiced nature. The berries are always small and concentrated giving flavours of blackberries and herbal notes of rosemary and dried oregano. Perfect ripeness was achieved here with gentle succulence and fine tannins.

  • JMO, November 2025, Score: 93-96

Slightly lighter in colour, with a pleasingly fragrant nose, including some cherries. The fragrance grows in the glass. The body builds very well too, with more dark raspberries in the mix. A certain sucrosity because the tannins are very refined. Drink from 2032-2038.

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Region

Latricières Chambertin

Latricières-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin district on the Côte de Nuits, producing red wine from Pinot Noir. It is located on a gentle slope in the far south of Gevrey-Chambertin next to the Morey-St-Denis border. The vineyard lies on white oolite soils, sheltered from the winds and hail by the woods of the Montagne de la Combe Grisard to the North West. When young these wines are bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours, as well as violets and gamey undertones. Compared to other Grand Cru Gevrey, Latricières-Chambertin is not ultra-powerful and seems to exude a sublime lacy quality.
