I have just been in the north of Scotland for a couple of weeks with the family. Part of the time we were staying in a tiny little place called Achiltibuie. I’m sure not many of you will have heard of this but, for those who have, they will know what an amazing place it is.
It overlooks the Summer Isles and you can find some of the most glorious white sandy beaches with hardly a soul on them. One would have thought the rain would have been lashing down and we would have been plagued by midges but not at all… the sun shone every day and we even got burnt.
The views across to the Summer Isles are stunning, so sitting down with a cold glass of something refreshing having a barbeque and watching the sun go down is pretty idyllic. I, of course, came well armed with a generous supply of wine. One of the wines which particularly stood out was St. Veran Domaine de la Croix Senaillet 2006.
This is a really fantastic wine. It is drinking superbly and stylistically it is very pure with lovely minerallity and good concentration. It is only £95.00 per case of twelve ex VAT. The Domaine is also very much on the organic side, so if you over indulge you have a good clear head the following day.
