We are thrilled to announce an exciting new addition to our central Tuscan portfolio in the form of Chianti Classico producer, Renzo Marinai, from the heart of Greve.
Tuscany is on a huge upward spiral at the moment, never has the quality level and consistency been so high, and Renzo Marinai perfectly illustrates the amazing value to be found in this beautiful enclave of central Tuscany.
We were introduced to this Panzano delight late last year and were instantly seduced by an array of young and mature vintages.
The overall style of the wines produced at Renzo Marinai is one of substance and body with excellent concentration of ripe dark flavours, which typifies the Chiantis produced to the north of the region. Renzo Marinai provides a more masculine contrast to the more supple medium weight wines that feature further south with our other Chianti producer, Riecine.
Our first shipment has just arrived and features the entry level Chianti Classico DOCG 2014 alongside the top drawer classification Gran Selezione 2011, the pinnacle of Chianti winemaking. Both wines are exceptionally delicious to drink now and over the next few years.
As a new addition to the Goedhuis & Co Italian range we have a fantastic introductory price on the 2014 Chianti Classico at £100 per 6 (free delivery on 18+ bottles). Both wines are immediately available for delivery.
2014 Chianti Classico DOCG
£100 per 6 inc VAT (Free delivery on 18+ bottles)
Intensely deep, dark and powerful, the palate features an enticing array of dark red cherry fruit, plum and mocha all interwoven to create a plush opulent Chianti Classico. One to enjoy immediately and drink over the coming 6 months. Works especially well with bbqs and roast lamb or beef. Goedhuis & Co
Background to Renzo Marinai (pictured)
The estate at San Martino a Cecione sits just outside of the medieval town of Panzano between Florence and Siena. Renzo Marinai’s vines cover a mere 6 hectares of the estate so this is a tiny operation in comparison to other estates in the area.
At 400 metres above sea level, the altitude is relatively high in terms of Chianti Classico, and combined with a predominantly marl soil, the location is perfectly suited to the Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo grapes.
By complete coincidence Tom Heidman, the owner, is a Dutchman which obviously resonated quite strongly with our chairman, Johnny Goedhuis!
