Mention the name Gros in the village of Vosne Romanée and there is automatic reverence. In wine trade terms they are akin to Burgundian aristocracy.
The historical family holdings include some of the greatest vineyard names in the village: Richebourg, Grands Echezeaux, Echezeaux and so on. Slightly confusingly, as with any established name in the Côte d’Or, as vineyards get passed from one generation to the next, domaines become split and there is an increasing number of Gros family members who have set up on their own (brothers, sisters, cousins etc.). To keep track one needs an encyclopaedic knowledge. We are extremely fortunate to work with two members of the Gros family (cousins) and in this instance, are delighted to offer the stunning wines of Domaine Anne-Françoise Gros.
Anne-Françoise, daughter of Jean and Jeanine Gros, married François Parent from Pommard. In 1998 they combined their two estates together to create a stunning domaine representing the very finest vineyards in both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.
What makes this domaine particularly special is not only their substantial vineyard holdings, but also that they release part of their crop en primeur and hold back a portion of wine in bottle to satisfy a continuous demand from both private clients and restaurants.
Following our launch of the superb 2015 vintage en primeur (our first with the estate) we were delighted to host Anne-Françoise’s daughter, Caroline, for a tasting and lunch with the whole Goedhuis team at our new offices in London. It is fair to say everybody was bowled over.

Often overlooked amongst the sea of Grands Crus within the boundaries of Vosne Romanée and Flagey-Echezeaux, but arguably one of the most consistent of them all. Selected from 90 year old vines, this is full of warm ripe loganberry fruits. In the palate it is amazing due to its sensual giving nature. The wine coats the palate and sings of Grand Cru quality.
