When it comes to fine red wine Bordeaux is still the one to beat. Arguably the pre-eminent wine producing region in the world and home to the great First Growths – Lafite, Latour, Margaux, Mouton and Haut-Brion – the Super Seconds, Flying Fifths and the Right Bank stars, including Petrus, Le Pin, Cheval Blanc and Vieux Château Certan. The most sought after wines come from the communes of St Estephe, Pauillac, St Julien and Margaux on the Left Bank, the Graves immediately to the south of the city of Bordeaux, and St Emilion and Pomerol on the Right Bank.
