We were very sad to learn of the death after a long illness of Lionel Stopford Sackville at the weekend.
Lionel accepted our invitation to be Chairman and an investor shortly after our first meeting in the Cipriani. It was a brave thing to do, but from then on his help and support were utterly invaluable in the growth and development of Goedhuis& Co. There were some difficult times but Lionel was always there with extremely balanced advice.
He retired in 2006 but continued to be hugely interested in the business. He was a great friend both to Goedhuis & Co and to me personally and I am just so pleased that David Chaplin introduced us back in 1983.
