Mull, mackerel and rose

Archive

We have just been on holiday on Mull off the west coast of Scotland. It doesn’t sound too exotic but I can assure you when the sun comes out and you’re standing on a beach with beautiful white sand it really is magical… that is until the midges descend which I guess is why the beaches are so often empty!

One of the days we decided to try and catch a mackerel. I borrowed a friends boat and headed out to sea. Before long we were busy pulling them in.

When we got back to the beach we prepared the mackerel and lit a fire. After all this hard work I felt rather thirsty so out of the cool boxes came a bottle of 2008 St. Baillon Cotes de Provence Rose. Always a firm favourite, it tasted even better than ever!
