2011 is a very exciting release from Podere Salicutti, a winery that has enjoyed a meteoric rise in reputation over the last few years.

Salicutti-vineyard

This is an incredible year for owner Francesco Leanzo. Not only has he crafted one of the top wines from this vintage, but he has arguably (and time will tell) produced a wine in the Brunello ‘Piaggione’ that will surpass even his 2010, a rare feat in this testing year. Part of the reason for the success of Salicutti lies in the location of the vineyards, situated at an altitude of 420 metres, which allowed the vines to benefit from excellent ventilation and exposure during the August heat. The resulting wine is nothing short of spectacular.

Of the three vineyards that Salicutti own, the ‘Piaggione’ vineyard is the most precocious; a one hectare plot producing a wine that is rich and intense as a result of the ripeness of the grapes and one that will be outstanding to drink from 2018-2025.

To be able to produce a wine of such outstanding quality in a year that challenged the winemakers to the extreme, clearly shows that Salicutti is at the cutting edge of Montalcino wine production.

We have 50 six bottle cases available and 20 single magnums to offer. I urge you to be quick off the mark and embrace this outstanding release. Call us on +44 207 793 7900.Salicutti-bottle

2011 Brunello di Montacino Piaggione Salicutti
£190.00 per 6 bottles In Bond | £70.00 per single magnum In Bond

The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Piaggione is one of the most sensual wines of the vintage. Racy, open-knit and expressive, the 2011 will thrill Salicutti fans who are looking for a wine to drink young. Silky tannins wrap around the succulent fruit and add t the wine’s total sense of allure. The warmth of the vintage comes through, yet the wine is never heavy or ponderous. Sweet macerated cherries, cinnamon and rose petal meld into the sumptuous, inviting finish. A wine of weightless elegance, the 2011 is superb. It’s hard to imagine the Riserva will be better than this.
