…mixing simplicity in the plate and the glass.
For a special occasion, I was looking for a special wine to drink, nothing too fancy or upmarket, but the passion of the wine maker should be felt one sip after the other.
I turn to the Loire Valley (once again), and this has nothing to do with the fact that I come from that part of the world. Montlouis Petillant Naturel, Triple Zero from Jacky Blot, I have to agree with you the name is not as appealing as Dom Perignon, nevertheless this is a very pretty sparkling wine made from 100% Chenin Blanc from vines of 50 years of age. This is truly beautiful and very fresh and very different form Champagne. I can only recommend it.
For the Red, I turn to Spain, and once again this has nothing to do with the fact that I come from the Loire Valley. Peña Aldera 2004, Rioja Reserva, Bodegas Jalon. Absolutely Delicious, if you are a fanatic of Rioja, this is for you. Elegant, spicy and oaky it is a real pleasure in the mouth, but be quick as we have limited availability of this vintage, nevertheless we have the 2007 vintage which sounds very promising.
Now for the food, I prepared grilled Queen Scallops on black pudding, served with quenelles of fresh pea and nutmeg with pure, grilled Prosciutto and orange and Italian red wine vinegar reduction.
For dessert, white chocolate mousse served with candied lime zest and almond butter biscuit.
A truly great experience for our palate.
