Yesterday I attended the Washington State & Oregon annual trade wine tasting.
Our fantastic Shea Pinot Noirs 2008 were on show and they were simply outstanding.
The 2008 vintage was like 2005 in Burgundy. It produced ripe, expressive and complex fruit but in a more classic shell. Founded by Dick and Deirdre Shea in 1996, Shea Wine Cellars is a producer of world-class Pinot Noir, all made from fruit grown on-site at Shea Vineyard. Shea Wine Cellars was a natural outgrowth of Shea Vineyard which was first planted to wine grapes in 1989.
The 200-acre vineyard property lies at the heart of Oregon’s Yamhill-Carlton District.
The star of the show was Dicks “˜Block 7’… My good friend Oz Clarke said, “˜It has magnificent balance between richness, freshness and pure elegance. Simply delicious”
