October lays the first stone in an appetising autumn/winter season featuring a series of captivating events.
First up was a visit from Antoine Gimbert of Domaines Delon for a Tasting and Dinner at Goedhuis & Co HQ.
Wines featured over a tailored tasting and dinner were from two extraordinary châteaux of Domaines Delon, Château Léoville Las Cases 2ème Cru St Julien & Clos du Marquis St Julien. Clos du Marquis is not to be confused with Le Petit Lion which is the second wine of Château Léoville Las Cases, created in 2007.
Both Ch Léoville Las Cases’ & Clos du Marquis’ vineyards are located in St Julien but grapes come from different areas and terroir. The exact blend of grapes varies according to the vintage, but Cabernet Sauvignon predominates.
What these estates do share is their focus on quality, balance, acidity, freshness and long, slow evolution, in a sense: harmonious and long-lasting wines.
Even in their youth, Léoville Las Cases 2014 and 2008 show concentration and purity with a silky texture and smooth tannins, fresh acidity and a near-endless finish.
Wines were matched with a seasonal bespoke menu made by our talented Chef Laura Haworth, encapsulating the overall flavours extremely well.
